How to change boot device / sequence on you computer

This is the First step to setup a new operating system on computer. If the operating system in your computer get damaged or if you want to upgrade or change your operating system then you need your desire operating system disk [CD or DVD] which usually bootable. After you got your disk(s) you are ready to change your boot sequence. Follow the steps listed below to get the job done:
  • Turn the power on of your CPU.
  • Now you need to hit the correct key on your keyboard to enter in BIOS Setup Utility. If you know the key then well but if don’t know which key then, while computer is booting up it shows usually a black screen with some text based information [Technically called BIOS-POST Screen]. Presently computer get powerful enough so it takes only very few seconds to understand what actually it shows. As you may need it to figure out something from this screen you need to slow it down. So what the way to slow it down? It’s very simple, just hit the [Pause/Break] key when it starts the black screen on your keyboard to halt the procedure. Now there should be a line usually at the bottom of the screen to informing which key to hit to enter in BIOS [Sometimes shows Setup, depends on your BIOS/Motherboard manufacturer]. Once you find out the correct key then hit the key. Usually it is the [Delete], [F2] or [F10] key.
  • The BIOS screen almost like this one. [Depends on your BIOS manufacturer]
  • Now go to the Advanced BIOS Features or Boot or System Configuration [Depends on your BIOS manufacturer] by your arrow keys on your keyboard and press enter. [Sorry no Mouse pointer here]
  • Here go to at the First Boot device or Boot Options or Boot Oder [Depends on your BIOS manufacturer] then press [Page up/Page down] or [+/-] Button to change the first boot device to your desire device, here we want the CD/DVD Rom which you have and like to use to install the operating system. So select the CD/DVD Rom as your first boot device.
  • Now press [Esc] button until you come back to the BIOS Setup Utility main screen.
  • At this point it wise to insert the bootable operating system disk in your CD/DVD Rom which you selected previous as first boot device.
  • At the BIOS main screen you find some Exit options like Save & Exit Setup, Exit without saving. For our purpose we select Save & Exit Setup. Here you may have to press [y] button to confirm your action.
  • Now the computer restarts again.
  • After the black screen [BIOS-POST Screen] computer will seek for the bootable operating system disk on the CD/DVD Rom and there will be a massage “Press any key to boot from CD … … …”
  • Now press any key on your keyboard to start booting from your bootable operating system disk and start installing.
